Maya Thompson, Psy.M., AMFT (she/her)
Hello, I’m Maya, and my pronouns are She/Her. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I hold a Clinical Master’s Degree in Psychology, a BA in World Arts and Cultures, and a certificate in Social Emotional Arts from UCLA. In my commitment to inclusivity, I completed a Behavioral Health Support Specialist certificate from UCLA Extension, specializing in the LGBTQ+ population. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) specifically for BIPOC clients, a trauma-informed approach that addresses the unique experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.
My work with couples is guided by my training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) through ICEEFT and Levels 1 and 2 of the Gottman Method, which supports building secure and lasting connections.
As the daughter of an immigrant parent, I understand the complexities of adjustment and life transitions. My background as a performing artist allows me to integrate social-emotional arts into therapy, offering creative ways to process stress, anxiety, and trauma. Whether you’re working through relationships, healing from past wounds, or seeking self-discovery, I provide a nurturing space to empower your growth and help you create meaningful connections. I look forward to working with you!
