About Me

My name is Annissa, my pronouns are she/they, and I am an AMFT with Diaspora Therapy Group. I work with pre-teens, teens, and adults, as well as families seeking support through telehealth. My work centers on affirmation, empowerment, and celebrating the many identities and experiences that shape who we are. Many clients come to therapy feeling forgotten, misunderstood, or like they have been told they are both “too much” and “not enough.” I strive to create a space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported without fear of judgment.

My therapeutic approach is influenced by person-centered, multicultural, and feminist therapies. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I aim to bring empathy, understanding, curiosity, and advocacy into our work together. I have experience supporting clients navigating depression, anxiety, stress, grief and loss, trauma, racial identity, LGBTQIA+ concerns, and gender-expansive identities. I also have EMDR training through the Trauma Recovery Humanitarian Assistance Programs (TR-HAP), which informs my trauma-focused work with clients.

For pre-teens and teens, therapy can provide a supportive space to explore identity, relationships, emotions, family dynamics, and the challenges that come with growing and finding your place in the world. For adults, our work may focus on healing from past experiences, navigating relationships and life transitions, strengthening self-understanding, or making space for parts of yourself that may have felt overlooked or misunderstood.

I also provide family therapy via telehealth, offering families an opportunity to work through communication challenges, relationship patterns, conflict, and changing family dynamics together. Whether we are working individually or as a family, my goal is to create a safer space for authentic self-expression, exploration, and growth.

Life can be overwhelming, and sometimes it can feel like there is little time or space to simply be with yourself. Therapy can be an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and explore what you need with someone who is there to listen and support you. I look forward to being a part of your journey.
